Antarctic Expeditions

September 29, 2017 by Jeremy

There some very unusual cruise opportunities recently introduced that will allow you to step into a world very much removed from your own – Antarctica. If you won the powerball lottery you’d be able to see as much of Antarctica as you’d like. But for the rest of us, it’s a fairly expensive trip. Mysterious and vast, Antarctica – the “white continent” at the bottom of the world – is no other place on Earth. A land of glittering ice, majestic snow-capped volcanoes and spectacular landscapes, it is the only continent with no indigenous population. Instead, it has for millions of years been a haven for migratory birds, whales, seals and other marine mammals who come each summer to feast in its food-rich coastal waters.

These remarkable expeditions include the following highlights:

Lemaire Channel – All the stylish greatness Antarctica can assemble is on the show along this restricted, seven-mile cut between positions of transcending crests hung in ice and snow.

Tation will welcome you as you touch base via ocean. The oceans here are rich in supplements and sustenance, supporting gigantic populaces of penguins, seals, and winged animals. Whales, as well, are returning after their long decay due to over-chasing.

Puerto Montt – Trek among old trees, zip-line over ravines or cast for amazing Chilean trout in Chile’s verdant Lake District.

Castro – Walk the trails of the Valdivian Temperate Rain Forest, one of the rarest situations on earth, and find out about the general population of Chiloe, who make their living from the timberland and the ocean.

Puerto Chacabuco – Watch for red deer on an island trek, or drive the rough Rio Simpson Valley to the city of Coyhaique

Punta Arenas – Visit the Magellanic penguin settlements of Otway Sound, or wander inland to the lofty stone pinnacles of Torres del Paine National Park.

Your voyage to the bottom of the Earth will be aboard an ultra-luxurious 450 passenger small cruise ship, ideally suited for the channels, fjords, islands, and passageways found at the bottom of the Earth. Included in these sailings are four days of Zodiac landings (launched from the ship’s marina located on the aft of the ship) on the Antarctic continent and South Georgia Island.

Additionally, Antarctic cruises will often be accompanied by a tour guide well versed in the region with options on some cruises for ice or wildlife experts and seasoned seafarers.

Furthermore, when it comes to the cruises themselves, they offer much the same as regular cruises as far as amenities and services go with there being different levels of tickets and prices based on the level of luxury desired. Play Multilotto.com and you take all the luxury cruises you dream. There are usually also choices between cruises that have an adventurous basis, a luxurious basis or an activity and exploration basis, depending on what the goal for the trip is.

Of course, there are some common misconceptions when it comes to considering an Antarctic cruise that can put some travelers off such a holiday. Naturally, the cold is one of the main issues for many people with the reputation of the freezing temperatures hindering some people. However, many Antarctic expedition companies boast that cruise passenger can experience the rare hot springs while enjoying 18 to 24 hours of sunshine when traveling between June of September.

My name is Jeremy and I used to be a pretty high-up chef in New York City. I worked at a few high scale restaurants and loved it for many years. But then it began to feel like something was missing. After a short trip to Thailand, I knew what I had to do.

I came back to NYC, gave my work notice, packed up and headed out to the road. Since 2015, I've been backpacking around the world (and eating everything!!!). Thankfully with all the walking I do traveling, I've only gained a few pounds hahaha. Read More…
