Beer Bread

A family favorite passed down by mom...

Ingredients
3 cups self-rising flour*
3 Tbsp. sugar
12 oz. beer (we prefer to use Shiner Bock)

Preparation

  1. Mix all ingredients and stir.
  2. Grease 9x5" loaf pan. Pour in mixture.
  3. Let rise in a warm place for 30 minutes.
  4. Bake one hour at 325°.
  5. Butter top after baking to keep moist and serve warm. Honey butter makes a great topping!

* To make "homemade" self-rising flour for recipe above: For every cup of self-rising flour called for, use one cup all-purpose flour, plus 1 ½ tsp. baking powder, plus 1/2 tsp. salt. Sift together.
