
Dumplings (Dampfnoodla)
From 1/2 loaf of bread dough, form into small balls the size of a small egg. Let rise to double size. Put 2 T. shortening in pan or Dutch oven; add 1 medium onion and saute a little. Add 1 1/2 C. water and 1/2 tsp. salt. Put in dumplings side by side; cover pan. Let boil slowly for 1/2 hour or until dumplings begin to fry. Take out and eat with any type of soup.
